HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT
SOLAR SYSTEM
The solar industry has products ranging from excellent to unreliable. Choosing the right combination of panels, inverter and battery can mean the difference between a system that pays back in 4 years versus one that needs replacing in 7.
Our team has installed over 5MW across Canberra and the South Coast. We have seen what performs in Australian conditions, from ACT cold winters to South Coast salt air and humidity.
Inverter quality matters most. The inverter is the hardest-working component. A cheap inverter failing at year 8 can cost more than the original saving.
Check warranty support, not just length. A 25-year warranty is worthless if the company has no Australian office. We only specify brands with real local support.
Battery chemistry matters. Lithium iron phosphate batteries are safer with far more cycles than older NMC chemistry.
Do not over-specify on day one. A well-sized 6.6kW system with a quality inverter outperforms a cheap 10kW system. Size for your usage.
Canberra and South Coast NSW

What works in Queensland does not always perform the same in Canberra or on the South Coast. Climate affects panel efficiency, inverter operating range, and battery performance.
ACT and Canberra: Cold winters mean high-efficiency N-type HJT or TOPCon panels perform better. Look for low temperature coefficients for winter generation.
South Coast NSW: Salt air requires IP65+ rated equipment, corrosion-resistant frames and sealed inverter enclosures. We specify coastal-rated products for every coastal install.
Battery in cold climates: Battery performance drops in cold weather. We specify batteries with good low-temperature operating ranges for Canberra installs.
Outage resilience: The South Coast experiences more grid outages. Battery backup capability is particularly valuable and we factor this into every system design.

Battery sizing depends on your daily usage, solar generation, and whether you want backup power. A typical Canberra or South Coast home does well with 10-16kWh. We model your usage and recommend the right size in your quote.
